Logitech G – The new official partner of Aperture Gaming
Logitech G, a brand of Logitech, has partnered with Aperture Gaming (ApG), a South African-based multi gaming organisation that aims to make Esports more accessible to serious gamers in South Africa. As part of the partnership, Logitech G will sponsor Aperture Gaming Female (known as ApG FE) – ApG’s all-female Counter Strike Global Offensive (CS:GO) team.
Theuns Louw, Managing Director of Aperture Gaming, says that the partnership signifies a commitment to not only boost South Africa’s gaming reputation, but to also empower local female players to realise their talent and gain the recognition they deserve in the Esports industry.
“We partnered with Chevonne ‘CS Princess’ Stander, appointed captain and lead recruiter of our ApG FE side, who has assembled what can only described as one of the most dedicated, disciplined and enthusiastic teams Aperture Gaming has ever worked with. We are truly excited to help the team unlock its potential with the help of Logitech G, and show the industry what they are capable of.”
Other members on the ApG FE team include Kelly ‘Serenity’ Steyn, Robyn ‘Dracarys’ Murray, Lurinda ‘Lolly’ Botha, Sharnelle ‘M3TT4L’ Stander, and Kira ‘Starlight’ Leigh Allen.
Logitech G will provide the team with the latest devices and peripherals from the brand’s sought-after G-Gear range, as well as financial support to cover the players’ expenses when attending events – often one of the biggest barriers to entry for local gamers, says Louw.
“A lot of the high profile tournaments don’t assist with overhead expenses such as travel arrangements for the players, making it next to impossible for the average player to attend events,” says Louw. “Logitech’s support and financial contribution is a huge deal for us and our players, as our players would not be able to compete without it.”
Aperture Gaming will join Logitech at Comic Con Africa, taking place from 14-16 September 2018, where fans will have the opportunity to meet the players from the ApG FE team, as well as the talented members of Aperture’s other teams, at the Logitech stand. The players will also be giving away signed memorabilia and other great prizes.
